corpuls3: ECG live data transmission in the Romanian Emergency Medical Services
Kaufering/Bucharest, 26. June 2008 – Under large participation of press, radio and TV, GS Elektromedizinische Geräte GmbH (GS) has presented together with the Romanian Minister of Health Eugen Nicolăescu an ideal solution for the optimisation of the emergency medical services in Romania: an ECG live data transfer via GPRS.Within the framework of a European tender the Romanian Ministry of Health has decided to purchase a defibrillator/patient monitoring system in year 2007. By choosing the corpuls3 a bavarian device (from Kaufering) has been selected, now being the standard device in the Romanian EMS.
As in the Romanian EMS almost solely non-medical staff is employed (but paramedics), it has been necessary to strike out in a new direction for the utilisation of new technologies and the improvement of patient care. The real-time live data transfer developed by GS transmits all ECG curves and vital parameter to a “centre of competence”. In this centre a physician evaluates all received data and instructs the rescue staff on the EMS spot via Tetra-radio. Only then it is possible to bridge the time gap of long transport routes and thus offer the patient an optimised life-saving treatment.
The Romanian news channel Antena3 reported live from the press conference. So TV viewers were able to watch how the first live curves and vital parameter were transferred by GPRS (TCP/IP). During the press conference the Minister of Health underlined that the Romanian EMS is outstandingly positioned for the future with this latest technology and the delivery of 800 devices of corpuls3 until midyear 2008 and furthermore sets new standards in the telemedicine in Europe.
